I suggest a combination 50/50 of what people seem to be interested in (as mentioned above by Tranquilized and Vee) and what your own interests are so you don't lose your uniqueness and you also don't start hating doing art. 

I am more of a horror-fantasy artist and it would kill me to draw barbie DPs (but I like to stare at them)
