  1. I feel like i'm in art limbo

I want to start drawing anime/chibis

    (have always wanted to)

but I can't seem to get away from semi-realism.

it's like my hand refuses to draw what i want it to

    :psobbing:

i've been working on a batch of freebie chibis

and it's been fun in some ways but i'm just realizing where my weaknesses in art are.

    if that makes sense?

what would be your first step if you wanted to change your art style?

    :pthinking:

If it was me, even though I don't have an art style lol, I would look at tutorials on different platforms like youtube or pinterest. Watch how others are able to create their lil anime characters, maybe practise some of them before trying to change it into your own technique? Or maybe if you are doing chibi's, start with a free base that is posted on DA, practise drawing the features on that chibi base. I always love to watch other artists process on how they work.  (Sorry if this was not helpful! ahaha just a lot of rambling.)

@Krystal you know, i really haven't watched or looked at tutorials in like over a year. i don't know why i stopped but that's a good first step. gotta go back to the basics, eh? i have so much art anxiety for some reason, but maybe it's just because i have to kinda forget what i know in order to go in a new direction. you're totally helpful, thank you krystal :) i'm watching a chibi tutorial on youtube right now and i feel like a teenager again xD
