QUICK UPDATE: TOPIC BUMPS ARE BACK!

Hello Haveners!

The feature to "bump" your topic with the click of a button is back once again! This was once a feature long ago, but was removed due to conflicts with our software. However, these issues appear to have been fixed and the feature seems to be working as intended so far. Please note that if these issues do make a reappearance, the feature will once again be disabled. This is considered a "testing phase".

What is a topic bump?

The topic bump feature adds a button to the top of every "bumpable" topic that allows topic owners to easily "bump" their topic to the first page of the forum section. Topics that appear on the first couple of pages within a forum section tend to generate more views as they appear active, updated, and more easily accessible to users browsing our forums. While this feature was disabled, users were able to post "bump" to their topics in order to have a similar effect as the forums are organized by activity rather than name, posting date, number of pages, etc.

In addition to moving the topic to the first page of the forum section, "bumping" your topic also prevents the topic from being cleaned or temporarily archived after 30+ days of inactivity. We recommend this for those of you who may be working on existing orders or temporarily away in order to prevent your topic from being temporarily archived. As a reminder, you may also lock your topic for 180+ days if you know you will be away from your topic for an extended period of time and won't have the opportunity to "bump" your topic(s) on a regular basis.

Limitations

Topic owners can "bump" their topic once every 12 hours or twice in a 24 hour period. Topics with recent posts are included in this 12 hour period. As long as a topic has not received a response within the past 12 hours, it can be "bumped". This limitation has been put in place to prevent abuse and grant all other topic owners the opportunity to "bump" their topics as well. Previously, users were allowed to "bump" their topic by commenting every 10 hours, however, this often led to spam so the length of time between each "bump" has been extended to once every 12 hours.

Elite members will have the ability to "bump" any topic they are following for the topic owner. This is a temporary "perk" while we are in a testing phase for the feature. Should the feature pass the testing phase, the ability to "bump" any topic will be enabled for all Art Haven members. This means that if you have a shop assistant or user helping you keep your topic active, they'll be able to help you "bump" your topic. However, please keep in mind that all topic "bumps" follow the same limitations and can only be "bumped" once every 12 hours regardless of who is pressing the button.

Additional Features

  • Topics that have either been "bumped" or have recent posts will have a "cooldown" timer next to their button. The button will appear yellow during this "cooldown" phase.
  • Topics that are ready for a "bump" will be green.
  • You can remove a bump from a topic by clicking the red "remove" button. This will move the topic back to it's original place in the topic listing and is only available for topics that do not have any recent activity. For example, if you accidentally "bump" the wrong topic, you can remove it.

If you have any questions or encounter any bugs while using this feature topic bumps, please feel free to respond to this announcement or contact us via support ticket to the tech department.

FAQ/Known Bugs

With the topic bump system, will shop pins become depreciated/obsolete?
No, pinning a topic will always put the topic at the VERY TOP of the page. Topic pins do not need to be bumped and will remain pinned/first until the pin's term expires. We have always allowed topic bumping on top of topic pins, so this feature is not new. It's only adding the button back for ease and less spam in the topics.

I used to post "bump" in my topic, can those posts be removed now that the button is there?

Yes! Feel free to reach out to a member of the Moderation Team.
