So in my college every class has its own dedicated website for each subject and teacher. it usually features descriptions of the class and what we'll be studying.

  Maybe it represents an ancient society event/deity/person or open interpretation since the actual source has been buried within history.

  really i just find it funny xD i mean, the first thing you see when you log in is a pair of legs with a skull and a head on the anus
  
  (researched a bit, its actually one of many grotesque creatures from an ancient medieval psalter. no real meaning other than to be gross lol)
