I have been hospitalized recently (still in hospital when I'm writing this), and my doctor had randomly started a conversation while he was taking my blood.
Like, he mentioned that I looked familiar, and asked me what I was working as. If I was a nurse somewhere.
Sheepishly I told him that I do digital art commission on Haven. With a curious tone he asked more about the details of trades, and how did it worked since it was different to his line of work.
He also briefly mentioned that he's starting to look dishevelled because it was late and there were still lots to do (since he had been on duty from 6am and its 8pm around the time of the convo).
I thought I'd humor him. Since I work irregularly and can't possibly understand his exhaustion, I told him that I did worked in an animation company prior. Since he did said before that he was interested in meeting people in a different profession.
He told me that he was always amazed at the way people in creative industry work, that he liked that free thinking aspect to it. He even asked me to show him some drawings that I did, but I wasn't feeling confident enough hence I told him that I don't have the files. I was nervous, so I started to laugh, before he laughed in turn and told me not to laugh at him.
Eventually he got up, and he said that back then he was a pianist, he kind of wanted to go to the creative path. It wasn't long until he laughed again, adding to his words, "What can I do? I'll have to face reality."
I think it was really sad.
