Another year has come and gone, and it's that time to spread some love around ArtHaven!  Not only a time to express your love to those who you care for and are close to but to yourself as well. Cards continue to play a role in this event year after year (and it still will), however it is not the main attraction time around. This time we're introducting another medium;  another form of love, the language of poetry. The simple definiton of poetry is "literature that envokes a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound, and rhythm" (source : britannica.com). For years poetry continues to be used to convey a variety of emotions, and has been used as a form of expression. It allows individuals to share a thought, a memory, a moment, an experience in their life in which it connect to others.

For the first part of this event you will write a poem (or poems) associated with the given theme(s) for the day.  There will be multiple themes each day, so no need to worry if want to choose one theme over the other. New prompts will be introduced every 48 hours, you may submit entries for previous prompts that were already given.

POEM I

Spoiler

A warm embrace on a winter day

Safe. Comfortable. Loved.

My (friend, dear, love, nickname, name, etc.)

A place where I call home

You are sunlight peeking through the clouds

A gentle wind on a summer day

You are and will continue to be my everything

Here. Now. Always.

POEM II

Spoiler

Petals soft like silk,
Your eyes embrace mine,
A love so tender,
Flows like wine
My veins beating for you
Oh my dear hue of light

POEM III

Spoiler

When gold reflects on water
Your wits shine brighter
The cold of the ocean hurts me no more,
Have I lost the world ?
Or have I lost your love so tender ?

POEM IV

Spoiler

a strawberry on our cake,
A home warm with your care,
A place near you
is my only escape

POEM V

Spoiler

walking in the rain
Running in the sun,
A world full of pain
Vanishing in your embrace

POEM VI

Spoiler

It's ok

Everything will be alright

Hold my hand, walk with me

 let the easiness blanket us

Protect my heart, as I do yours.P

Written for prompt 1:

The first rose
The first bud of a new rose,
beautiful and elegant as it grows.

It's allure is there for all to see,
attracting even the most distant of bees.

We appreciate it for it's sight,
they for something much deeper inside.

Given the chance the rose will convey,
that the best of us is always worth putting on display.

Written for prompt 2 (self love):

A self-portrait
Am I even worthy?
I ask myself in the mirror.
The reflection laughs,
for it knows I once was a sinner.

"Don't be a fool" I hear from afar,
"You're worth is more then all those mistake,
they don't define what's in your heart."

I take a second,
allow myself a deep breath.
I'm coming to,
replaying what was said.

Your worth is not linear.
Nor is it always overtly shown.
Your worth is deeper.
Something that can always be grown.

Who you are and what you do
can't be defined by those who never grew.
To them you are the same as you were before,
but to yourself you're worth so much more.

Are we allowed to use older poems we wrote if they match the theme?

You are welcome to use older poems if they match the theme but,  you have to at least write two from scratch.

14th- Love of Flora
I water the flowers that bloom within
The tender blooms delicately touching my skin
I've watered these blooms day in day out
Watched them grow from just a sprout
Carefully, Cautiously I have waited
To watch the flowers I have created

16th- Me, Myself and I (Self Love)
Learning to re-love yourself is hard
It's pretending who you are is unscarred
Or learning to love the scars and damage
Tearing yourself apart from the seams
To create the person of your dreams

18th- Free Write (Already posted unto a different site a long time ago under the name of Minoru(NekoMeowcy)
Your stomach aches
the butterflies race up to your throat
making cacoons there to stay
                           Speechless
Your hair falls over your face
each curl more intricate than the last
all coming together perfectly
                             Flawless
Your eyes are the glimmer of hope
that I've been searching for in my dreams
I was looking in the wrong places
                                   Everywhere
Your lips curl at the seams
in such a lovely way I almost forgot
how to stop smiling myself
                                 Contagious
How can I love you more and more
each day even when you don't want me to
                                            Effortless
My life plans all twisted and turned
for nothing in my life was certain
anymore until
                       You

20th- Free Write (Already posted unto a different site a long time ago under the name of Minoru(NekoMeowcy)
You let your fingertips delicately trace
over the freshly bloomed flowers I have
grown for you in my heart,
oh what a feeling this is
Spring
I've always been afraid of the water
but with the ocean behind your lips
I long for a swim, let me in
so I can take a dip inside
Summer
I've always loved the leaves that slowly
spiral to the ground, but I love the
chocolate in your eyes that swirl and
melt together in a perfect harmony
of bliss more
Fall
My heart was ice cold before you came along
who could have known you had the remedy
just beneath your fingertips
Winter
