[2023] Love Carousel

Written for prompt 5- Confessions of love

Precision of love
Our love is luminescent.
Bright for all to see.
Gleaming,
Radiant,
We're happy as can be.

Some days though,
we're a small smoulder in the night.
Sluggish,
Smoking,
We're not such a pretty sight.

Long lasting love can be laborious,
Taxing for sure,
Gruelling,
Strenuous.
Sometimes tiresome to endure.

But isn't that half the beauty?
To love despite the flaws.
Forever,
Endless
I want you to be my evermore.

Prompt 1 - Love of Flora.

can you smell the garden of flowers
that surround you and I?
their beauty is pure,
but you are exquisite like a Monet;
and just as they bloom in the spring,
i hope you will blossom out of this heart
I've given to you out of selflessness,
to keep you breathing during the wintertime.

Prompt 2 - Precious Memories (Self wrote a while ago but tweaked for this prompt)

He listens to your words with his eyes as he reads them with his mind.

All these thoughts of love and sadness both swirling around in a sea of time.

Yet each word echoes like a lost treasure, hidden beneath many waves.

It’s hard to acknowledge how much you can actually make a person feel

Or how easy it is to deny your own feelings, and his story is filled with both joy and sadness.

He has little in the way of friends, but each one of them has a big impact on his life.

His new friend makes him feel much more joy than he has felt in many past years

It gives him hope that he can be worthy of something in the future to his peers

His friend inspires him daily to be the best person he can be, and he is reminded that he needs to know that he can learn to love himself

To not have to worry about insecurities or other people’s judgements, that he can be whoever he wants.

He was afraid that if he was to be who he wanted to be, he would disappoint his friends, his family.

He stopped his passion because it was not realistic, it was not black and white.

Yet now he's learned to shed tears in delight, he has learned what it means to be able to write.

24th-Sweet tooth

You are my addiction
A sugar fiends best friend
Tasting you is my conviction
Throw away the wrapper and enjoy you til the end

Loving you is sweet
Loving you is easy
Like a lollipop treat
I can't stop until I'm queasy

Written for prompt 3- Free write (Sorry it's not very valentines appropriate)

Our demise
We burned too bright, too quickly
Until every last piece of us was burnt out.
I guess I was the fire.
Still hungry until the very end for more.
You were my fuel.
Not as endless as I'd been misled to believe.

I was left, pondering our downfall.
How did we go from precision to apathy?
I suspect it was her.
She was the entanglement you were trapped in.
I was becoming the past.
The subject of your intentional repression.

I desperately waited and watched,
Longing hear you say you made a mistake.
The more time went on
I was starting to see we already reached our deadline.
And for every night I cried.
I began to realise I couldn't let you be my ending too.

Prompt 3 - Love Language (A little more whimsy rhyme hehe)

The way your fingers were designed
&

how the grooves fit perfectly, intertwined

Electric jolts that spark,

pumping the blood to our beating heart.

Oh how I knew that our love was divine,
from the moment your lips touched mine

It's like a language no one knew they had or understood...

but everyone somehow knew it meant something good.

A gift given from above.

A language made entirely from love.

Smitten as a Mitten

Her passionate heart is just a rose,
It needs no gas, it runs on tomorrows.

She's not alone she brings a river,
A strong heart, and wants you to see clearer.

The heart likes to chase you,
Especially when you’re ready to fall through.

The woman shudders at the light,
She wants to stay for the night.

26th- My love (This is an old one posted on a different site under the name NekoMeowcy (Minoru))
Dear ex boyfriend,
Even though you were twenty going on twenty one,  you really put the Boy in boyfriend. I should have known nothing was ever going to work after the day you told me that I was burden to your life, But I was in love with you despite you only being in love with my body. When you told me my eyes were the most beautiful thing you've ever seen, I didn't think you'd forget their color once you got my clothes off. I should have known the day you talked to my mom and told her you owned me, I should have known the moment she brought up you starting a conversation with "She's shown me.." You told me I needed to learn to love my body, I never knew while you'd help me learn to love my body in the end I'd hate it even more than before. I should have known, I really really should have known. But all I knew is that I loved you more than I ever loved myself and before I learnt to love myself I learnt to forgive you over and over again only for you to make The same mistakes countless more times. You told me once my body was a temple and that it was a beautiful thing. I didn't know that temples could be so damn destroyed, but  you taught me that they could be.

Seasons prompt (a long haiku lol?)

A storm is coming

Lonely souls wait in their homes

Wait till it passes

New life has begun

The buds on trees and flowers

A beautiful bloom

Blue skies above

Gentle waves on blue sea

Spring has just begun

The stars around the sun

Luminous to the mortal eye

I find myself feeling stunned

By it’s beauty, remembering your brown eyes

That’s why I think of you

When I look up at the sky

I never lose sight of you
