  1. I hope that you didn't mean to insinuate that some / you would actually delete a piece if you wouldn't be able to resell it, because you wrote it here and in a later post... I for example, am now using a DP that's nearly 2 years old and I'm swapping on and off to it. Nowadays a lot of reselling happens and I've seen it with my own eyes on multiple servers. It's hard to determine wether a reseller wants to sell art to provide them with a new home or to make profit from it. I can imagine a lot of artist are really wary of that. - That saying, it's obvious that there's a wide arrange of opinions on the matter and that is okay. I think it's good that @Alismora brought it up for those that might have been bothered by the subject in question. So yes I'd say do not hesitate to share your opinion in any way because it's helpful for all of us!This will help me broaden my perspective on the matter and perhaps find a middle-ground that works well for customers and artists. I'm still not entirely convinced as to why a buyer would resell an OC when you can order new pieces from them or just create a new OC. Some of my OC's are incredibly old and I've had them for a really long time and I could never sell them so my view on this is just entirely different because there's personal attachment to it that will never expire. Maybe it is an artist thing? I don't know. I really like characterdesign, so I like to draw pieces for people to sell and it means the world to me when they turn these pieces into their OC's. It means my job and passion inspires others and that is incredibly valuable to me. I believe some artist like me state that they keep the copyright to post and share the watermarked art where they want but that you as a customer are able to use the premade, and in case of my work, turn it into an OC and may modify the OC it in any way you want. Just no edits on the artpiece that you purchased as a customer, because that is my work. As an artist who doesn't like reselling values the worth of a piece by craftmanship (displayed skill), originality, demand and design, but that is an entirely different subject. Reselling makes it difficult to keep track for the creator of the work like Pey and Mattie already mentioned in their posts or Arianna about trust in regards of deletion of the first DP. And I, will be held responsiblefor putting new watermarks on and and just having faith that the first owner will delete the now resold art. Really all of this adds extra administration for the artist. I for one thought people buy premades (at least I do.) because they like the character in the artpiece and want to turn it into an OC of their own (pre-made) or just considered it a pretty artpiece usable here on AH or on IMVU because it matches their profile or personality in one way or another. It just shows how much variety there is to it all. So keep the perspectives coming, thank you.
  2. First and foremost, I never would resell art I receive, before I purchase my art I'm already confident with that I like it in a way that I can reuse it a year later would I want to and that is now a piece or character belonging to me and only me personally. Second, I buy art because I want to support my favorite artists and I plan long before I buy a piece from them that I want one to make sure I can afford. But that's just how I deal with buying art, I make sure that any purchase I make is worth it in my opinion because it is a personal purchase that matches me. For me as an artist, reselling art sounds like administration hell would many pieces be resold. It'd make me uncomfortable having to dig files up to redo the watermark and checking the price, and there's no possible proof that the reseller will destroy the watermarked art they've been given in the first place. Ofcourse it is always up to the individual artist to accept or decline! There could be many more reasons for a resell, including a private one. I personally state in my shop that I do not allow for my work to be resold. And would anybody kindly ask me, I would probably charge for a namechange and explicitly ask them to state that they will delete the old files that they had received upon purchasing my art.
  3. Hi everybody, I haven't written a status in quite a while. Spring is approaching and with it comes more energy and plans for the year. :flower:

When 2018 came to an end, I made the decision to retreat and focus on personal art only for 2019. Commissions and even premades had been something that was stress inducing, given I was new to the community and I wanted to provide each and everyone with the best art I am capable of providing but I felt not ready. :psobbing:

Over the past two years, I've given my all into improving both my full paintings and my Display Picture art - Which I sold as experimental premades and collections. My main focus had been to finish art of the best possible quality within an adequate timespan so I can put plenty of effort into my craft for future clients and myself, without wearing myself out. :wawot:

Having done a few private commissions here and there now and receiving a lot of support and private asks for my services over time, I finally decided to reopen and offer my art for commission again: Currently in the form of display pictures and large bust art with a current of 6 slots. :blove:

    Interested in a commission?

Check this link for my About Me page here on Art Haven, scroll down to the Custom Form box, fill it in and and PM it to me and we will discuss further details in regard of your commission! Make sure to read the FAQ in case you get stuck. NOTE: Got anything else you need to know? Feel free to PM me any question you have. Weekend is coming so my replies will be quick! Any question you ask me will also work as direct feedback to update my FAQ and make the process of commissions smoother and easier for clients.

Yo Tini, why not open up a shop here on Art Haven in the custom shop section? :bfwhat:

In fact I thought of doing that, but I prefer to focus on direct messaging rather than having to openly share all I write all the time. I might reconsider depending on how much attention this gets!

Full body painting of my OC. I spend a lot of time on this particular piece, having to repaint lightsources, his face and other parts of the body multiple times until I was finally satisfied!

    Hello Art Haveners!  :lazesxy:

It's been two years now since I joined the website.

When I first joined the community I wasn't sure if I'd fit in. I was introduced by my friend Capsule, who was aware that I have long been curious to make income from my art, and that I was looking to meet a new community full of creative and open minded people to join and share my passion and interests with.

And wrong I was. I've met so many amazing people throughout these two years and made friends wide over the world as soon as I joined the website. I've received and seen so much support and love, have gotten close to so many individuals and found myself a little virtual home. No matter what time it is or where I am, there's always someone that has my back, and I'm very grateful for that.

Throughout time I managed to grow more confident and expressive in my work thanks to all the support and encourage. I've gathered more strength to share my work not just online, but people closer to me as well, like my family.

A lot of good and bad things have happened to me within this timespan. But I still want to enjoy and celebrate all that I've achieved so far! There's christmas dp's coming soon in December, and I will be hosting a give away DP (160x220) commission based on your OC. The only requirement is that you have an Art Haven account that is at least 3 months old! :fingerguns:

    ✨How to participate:

    Spoiler

    1. React with the little Art Haven gift emote 🎁  to this status.

    2. Ready a sta.sh (Deviant Art), moodboard or sheet for your OC. Try to keep other art reference to a minimum, meaning all references will be from art of your existing OC, or images you found on the web. I do not accept artwork of other people's OC's that doesn't belong to you as a reference. NO NSFW!

    3. Wait for results! On December the 5th, I will put all Art Haven users who have reacted to my status and meet the requirement in a random generator, and select the winner! :whatwherewhen:

4I will publicly announce the winner on this status, then contact the winner shortly after who can then PM me and I can get down to work asap. :lazesxy:

I have something else planned for the coming days, so stay tuned!!

Thank you so much for the support and love, always. :byaslove:

    Cheers

    Turn to Dust

Do you ever feel breathless, while you're in the open sky? Are you familiar with that feeling of sand dissolving between your toes, as you slip down into an ocean of thoughts and you can't hear the sounds of the wind? Ever see colours that aren't there? The world looking black and white, while everyone is smiling? Lonely amidst the crowd, yet so crowded on your own? Dreaded throughout the day, yet so alive at night? Feel unfamiliar with the reflections in the mirror, as if you're staring in the eyes of a stranger? These people... They always say I'm the odd one. But what if that makes Them odd to me? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Considering selling background version packs for mobile devices or widescreen desktops. The actual artpiece is about 3.4k x 4.8k. Probably my most detailed and most emotionally involved piece to date. drawn and painted to Thomas Bergersen - Return To Sender. 11. Have y'all noticed the beautiful Halloween Art Haven layout? Because I did. Aaaaa so spooky and mystical. :lldance:

  12. until

Is this going to be about making battle themed art or something? The layout for the event looks very retro and 8 bit like so I'm excited to see what this is about!

    Turn to Dust

Art piece inspired by Thomas Bergersen's new track ''Return to Sender''. I wanted to paint a piece that correlates with emotions and visuals this amazing song gave me. I had so much fun working on this piece and have put heart and soul into it. I've struggled with creating pieces how I wanted forever, and somehow this piece got out exactly as I imaged. Done as a one layer challenge in Photoshop CS6. Thanks for looking. <3

    Wildfire

A piece I made in between things last month as part of a set of art themed around disasters. The motivation for this one was the extreme drought last year that seriously hurt multiple areas in the world, especially the USA and Greece.
